| | Desserts and Baking Blog Email Like me on Facebook Follow me on Twitter Welcome to the one and only newsletter that will focus on dieting and desserts. Personally, I'd prefer to eat dessert less often than to make it with artificial ingredients. That being said, this newsletter highlights desserts made with those ingredients, but it also features other ways to make healthier desserts without them. | | Desserts and Dieting Tips Here is a list of my top ten common sense suggestions for balancing a well-rounded diet with desserts. | Bake with Oats Eating oatmeal has long been known to help lower cholesterol levels. Even if your oatmeal cookie is made with brown sugar and real butter, the oats in it, at the very least, cancel out the added cholesterol from the butter.
In case you missed it yesterday, baking with cinnamon is also good for you. | Bake with Nuts To two of my best friends' chagrin (one hates nuts, the nuts seem to dislike the other on), almost all of the desserts are made with nuts in them. Not only do I like nuts, but I feel as if I'm getting some beneficial nutritional value out of my desserts.
I also try to use dark chocolate as often as possible. You'll find a great "chocolate" satisfaction when baking with dark chocolate, and it's good for you too! | Bake with Vegetables and Fruits Everyone already knows that vegetables are good for you. I bet you can think of at least a few sweet treats made with vegetables. Here are a few more.
It goes without saying, but fruits are a natural for being good for you and there are tons of desserts made with them. | | | | Desserts / Baking Ads | | | | Featured Articles | | | | More from About.com | | | | | | Living with Depression By obtaining the correct medical intervention and learning better coping skills, you can not only live with depression, but live well.
