The Great American Backyard Campout 2012
Now in its eighth year, and just in time to get kids stoked for summer camping, the National Wildlife Federation invites families to camp under the stars on Saturday June 23. People camp in their backyards, at parks, at community campouts... Teams of campers are encouraged to fundraise for the National Wildlife Federation, to support programs that reconnect kids to nature.

| Dr. Beach's Top Picks for 2012
"Dr. Beach" is Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, an expert scientist who for many years has studied shore erosion, storm impacts, and other aspects of beaches. He's also a scientist who'll pose on the sand with a stethoscope, and who has a deep love for beaches and their restorative effect on body and soul. Dr. Beach uses 50 "beach criteria" to "diagnose" a shore and this year, his Top Ten list of "America's Best Beaches" puts San Diego's Coronado Beach in first spot.
