From Anitra Brown, your Guide to Spas
Every year The Global Spa & Wellness Summit has an annual contest where they ask university hospitality students to imagine the spas of the future. This year's winners include a revolutionary spa for teens; a quiet, brainy spa with book clubs and classes; a green spa with gardening classes and community involvement; and a spa of the future inspired by the past.

Spa of the Future: Defiant!
Defiant! rejects the "cutesy, bubble-gum" vibe of the teen services in favor of a spa that combines "punk aerobics", wellness services, value-priced spa treatments, and an iPad-packed lounge. Members are welcome.

Spa of the Future: Mente
Highly educated women 35-54 want a quiet, elegant place to unwind and relax while they exercise after work. Mente creatively combines spa, moderate exercise and intellectual enrichment in a civilized, social environment.

Spa of the Future: Greenhouse
Greenhouse is a green spa that is less about indulgence and more about fostering care and responsibility for what is important. That starts with the "three Rs of Sustainability" -- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Spa of the Future: ModerNature
ModerNature takes its inspiration from the traditional Turkish hammam, where social interaction is part of the experience. "Through social interactions and wellness therapies, ModerNature allows guests to cultivate a balanced lifestyle."
