Nana-

Shell will stop at nothing when it comes to drilling in the Arctic.

Donate today!

Help us stop them by making your most generous gift today.

Shell has spent more than four BILLION dollars on readying themselves to drill in the Arctic.

That doesn’t include money spent for the lawyers they’ve retained to keep Greenpeace and our supporters silent, or the amount of money they’ve spent trying to hoodwink the public into thinking they care about the environment through clever advertising.

But it gets even worse. Days ago, Shell admitted that one of their vessels has failed to meet air quality standards and is asking the Environmental Protection Agency to bend the rules yet again, proving how desperate they are to drill at any cost.

Enough is enough.

This week we intend to take our message to the public in a big way. And we need your help to get there. We’ve almost reached our $100,000 goal, help us over the top by making your most generous gift today.

Shell is prepared to go all out and so are we. We won’t allow them to hide behind their attorneys or fancy ads anymore. The Arctic is in trouble.

In the last 30 years, we’ve lost as much as three-quarters of the floating ice cap at the top of the world, largely due to our dependence on oil. The volume of that sea ice measured by satellites in the summer has shrunk so fast that scientists say it’s now in a ‘death spiral’.

But Shell will stop at nothing when it comes to drilling in the Arctic. Their recent petition to the EPA asking it to bend a number of air qualities rules proves just that.

The fact is Shell made a number of promises it can’t keep when it comes to Arctic drilling, empty promises that won’t change skyrocketing gas prices for you, wouldn’t reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and would come with the heftiest price tag of all — our future.

This rush to save the Arctic is so much bigger than Shell, and it’s still within our power to stop it. Make an urgent gift now to help save the Arctic and our planet today.

I’m going to be honest with you. From the start, our campaign has been an uphill battle. We don’t have the financial resources that they do. Greenpeace doesn’t take a dime from corporations or governments. We don’t have teams of lobbyists trolling the halls of Congress to do our bidding. We also don’t have teams of lawyers waiting in the wings to manipulate the court system to bully our way to bending the law.

But we’ve got something even more powerful, something Shell doesn’t have. And that’s you, Nana.

It’s people just like you that make our work possible. Greenpeace is taking on one of the biggest industries in the world; spending resources, energy and people power to bring the perils of the Arctic to the forefront of the public debate. This campaign isn’t just going to go away. The minute Shell finds a drop of oil in the Arctic, Exxon, BP and others will be scrambling to get up to the Arctic, and fast.

We can do this. They may seem more powerful, but with all of us working together to put a stop to arctic drilling we can put a stop to it. Make an urgent gift to save the Arctic right now.

Thanks for everything you’ve done to make this campaign its absolute greatest,

Dan Howells
Greenpeace Deputy Campaigns Director
